English Language Arts
I can tell what two texts on one topic each focus on, and use new science words.
Look: Topic and focus
- Set a purpose: What does each text mostly teach?
- Topic: what both texts are about.
- Focus: the part each text teaches the most about.
Two Texts About Ants
Text 1, Inside an Ant Nest: An ant nest has many tunnels and rooms. The queen ant lays all the eggs. Worker ants care for the larvae, or baby ants. Other workers carry food into storage rooms. Text 2, Ants Help the Soil: When ants dig tunnels, they mix the soil and let air and water in. This helps plant roots grow. Some ants carry seeds into their nests, and a few of those seeds sprout into new plants away from where they fell. This spreading of seeds is called seed dispersal.
Use both texts.
