The Crow and the Shiny Spoon
A crow found a shiny spoon by a picnic table. "This is the finest treasure in the forest," she said. She carried it everywhere, even when it made her wings ache. When winter came, the other birds had stored seeds, but the crow had only her spoon. She pecked at it and nearly cracked her beak. At last, she traded the spoon to a magpie for a little bag of seeds. Moral: Useful things are worth more than shiny things.
