    Two Texts About Sea Turtles

Text A, Sea Turtle Nests: A mother sea turtle crawls onto a beach at night. She digs a hole with her back flippers and lays about 100 eggs. She covers them with sand and swims away. About two months later, the babies hatch and race to the sea. Text B, Lights and Little Turtles: Baby sea turtles hatch after about 45 to 70 days. They crawl toward the brightest light, which is usually the sky over the ocean. Because lights from buildings can confuse them, some beach towns turn off outdoor lights during nesting season.
