I can compare fractions on a number line.

    Look: 3/4 and 3/8

    1. Draw two lines the same length. Line up the 0s.
    2. Place 3/4 on the fourths line and 3/8 on the eighths line.
    3. 3/4 is farther right, so 3/4 > 3/8.

Place both fractions on number lines. Write <, > or =.

    1. 1.

      2/4 ___ 3/4

      ○ <○ >○ =

I can use context clues to figure out new words.

    3. Check: put your guess in place of the word. Does it still make sense?

    The Quiet Hunter

Owls are raptors, birds that hunt with sharp claws, like hawks and eagles. An owl can swoop, or dive down fast, to catch a mouse. Its soft feathers make its flight almost silent, not noisy at all. Most owls are nocturnal, which means they hunt at night and rest during the day.
