Quarter 2 Review: Reading & Writing

    32 points total · Name: ____________________ Date: __________

    For the adult

Give this review in Week 18, on the day set aside for reading and writing. It samples Weeks 10–17: the parts of a narrative, showing feelings, time-order words, poetry, comparing two texts, research notes, revising and editing, spelling rules, and prefixes and suffixes. It is untimed; most children need 20–30 minutes. You may read the directions and questions aloud, but your child reads the story 'One Line', the poem, the two fact cards and the sentences in Revising, Editing and Word Study alone, because that reading is part of the check. Your child needs only a pencil. Do not teach, hint, spell words or punctuate for them. Score each section with its scoring note. The result is a snapshot for the quarter report and a guide to what to revisit, not a grade.
